Nelmac Roof Refit - Bullen Street
Over a five-month period in 2025, our specialised Asbestos Removal Division, led by foreman Andrew Greig, successfully completed a large-scale asbestos remediation for Nelmac at their facility on Bullen Street. The project was executed in four carefully planned stages: a methodical, safety-first approach that demanded high levels of planning, coordination, and commitment.
The scope of work included:
-Comprehensive identification and removal of asbestos-containing materials from the building envelope, including Super6 roof cladding.
-Safe removal of asbestos at height, requiring specialist scaffolding, edge protection, and safety equipment.
-Management of hazardous waste: over 60 tonnes of asbestos-containing material was safely removed, bagged, sealed and transported for disposal at an approved facility.
-Full site containment and decontamination, so that the building could be re-roofed immediately and safely by the roofing team.
Removing asbestos before re-roofing greatly reduces long-term health and safety risks for future occupants and workers. By providing a fully cleared, safe base, we enabled the roofing contractors to begin their work without delay.
Handling a large volume of hazardous waste showed the scale of the job and the capability of our team to manage significant, high-risk projects effectively.
We also really appreciated the opportunity to collaborate closely with the roofing contractors, scaffolders and other businesses involved. Their cooperation and professionalism helped make the entire project run smoothly.
This project underscores our company’s commitment to safety, compliance, and delivering high-quality remediation work, even under challenging conditions such as working at height, strict containment requirements, and logistical complexity.
