Hangar 2 - Trent Drive, Nelson Airport

In early 2023 our removal team was engaged to carry out Class B asbestos abatement at Hangar 2 on Trent Drive, a large WWII-era heritage hangar at Nelson Airport. The project involved the removal of Super6 asbestos-containing exterior cladding, along with a full environmental clean of the massive 3,400m² ceiling space.

This was the largest ceiling space environmental clean ever undertaken in the Tasman region—an important milestone for both our team and the redevelopment effort. The hangar had been unoccupied for some time, and in early 2023, extensive redevelopment began under Generation Global, requiring the complete removal of the building’s original asbestos cladding.

Working on a structure of this scale and historic significance brought unique challenges, but our team delivered a safe, efficient result that helped move this landmark project forward.
