Trafalgar Painting provides comprehensive asbestos testing services to help property owners, managers, and contractors identify the presence and condition of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Our certified and experienced team conducts detailed site inspections, careful sampling, and laboratory analysis to ensure accurate detection and assessment of asbestos risks.
Our testing process involves a thorough visual survey combined with strategic sampling of suspect materials such as ceiling tiles, wall cladding, insulation, flooring, roofing, and pipe lagging. Samples are handled and sent to accredited laboratories for precise identification and classification.
Following testing, we provide clear, detailed reports outlining the location, type, and condition of any asbestos found, along with recommendations for safe management or removal in accordance with current regulations and industry best practices. This information is essential for compliance, risk management, renovation planning, or demolition projects.
Asbestos Sample Testing
If you have any material you believe may contain asbestos, we can arrange for it to be tested. All analysis is conducted through an IANZ-accredited laboratory, and standard turnaround times at the laboratory are 4-7 working days. A priority testing service is also available for an additional fee.
How to Prepare Your Sample
To ensure safe handling and accurate testing:
Use two sealed plastic bags (double bag) for each individual sample. We have ready-to-go double lined and labelled sampling bags available for pick up at our reception desk, these are available free of charge if you wish to use them.
Wear appropriate respiratory protection (RPE).
Avoid breaking or damaging materials any more than necessary.
Never create dust - do not cut, sand, or disturb the material.
If any debris falls on flooring or carpet, do not vacuum or sweep. Instead, use a damp disposable cloth to carefully clean the area, and dispose of the cloth in a sealed bag.
Clean all tools or utensils immediately under running water.
Double-bag the sample using small zip-lock bags if possible.
Please do not place paperwork or forms inside the sample bags.
Never use staples to seal or attach anything to the bag.
Only a small portion of the material is needed—about the size of a tablespoon or roughly 5cm in diameter.
Each sample must be submitted in its own separate, double-sealed bag.
Samples can be dropped off directly to our office. If you’re unsure about the process, feel free to call us first.
Discounts are available for multiple samples - please contact us for a quote.
If you feel unsure about collecting your own samples and you would prefer for us to arrange this for you, please get in touch via email. Note that soil samples require a different approach, so contact us beforehand to discuss collection guidelines.
